As I made my way back to the Gold Coast from Rockhampton, I decided to do a few diversions.
The Power Station at Gladstone lies on the outskirts of the City.
Gladstone boasts one of the biggest mulit-commodity ports in Queensland.
The area of Gladstone is surrounded by green parks and beautiful inlets.
From Gladstone I then drove to 1770 which is the first port that Captain Cook arrived at when he discovered Australia.
This is the monument dedicated to his landing.
Below is just one of the beautiful beaches at 1770 you can only imagine Captain Cook navigating the sandbanks without the technology.
The tide was on its way out when I arrived.
Perfect time for the fisherman to head out.
I just couldn't tear myself away from the view.
The view from the other side of 1770.
From 1770 I drove on through Bundaberg.
This is the Silver Sands where I stayed at Torquay in Hervey Bay.
The room was clean and well styled but the bed was as hard as nails.
I arrived in Hervey Bay right on dusk so the view of the sun setting was amazing.
Here is a little teaser.
This pathway runs the entire length of the esplanade, parallel to the beach and is such a pretty walk.
If you are in Hervey Bay then "Santini" is a must. This is the Scallopini Masala
They make their Cannoli and Gelato fresh on premises and is an absolute treat.
Lemon Crepes are also on the menu.
The owners are Greyhound Rescue Dog Owners and have two of their new family additions out the back quite calm and enjoying their new home.
The beach here is so pretty and pristine.
There are seats dotted all along the esplanade which are dedicated to locals of past and present.
I just love how the park meets the sea.
There are statues like this one dotted here and there
The boardwalk also has several little trails amongst it.
The sand is sooo white here.
I walked for hours along this beach and below are some of the photos of the shells and water as I walked.
The Marina in Urangan at Hervey Bay
Home of the Mantra and some great little restaurants.
This is the Dock which is great for Tappas.
See my review in the posts section.
Greek Style Lamb Yros Pita only $10
Food with a view.
Maryborough the home of Mary Poppins. I was just driving through and had not time to stop as I needed to get to Tewantin before dark, I was planning to stop at Rainbow Beach instead.
Rainbow Beach is the entrance to the 4wd track to go the coloured sands.
The beach is beautiful and worth a stop to take it all in.
There were camels on the beach in the distance.
The coloured sands can be seen in the distance to the right.
Spot the Para-sails.
My accommodation in Tewantin at the Insignia Caravan Park.
Dinner at the Noosa Marina
Noosa Headlands
Even though the weather was not the best it still allowed for some spectacular photos.
This is the view of Mooloolaba.
I hope you enjoyed my photos of this little journey down the South East of Queensland.
