This quaint little town nestled amongst the mountainous region of the Northern Tableland Plateau.
Population is around 4000 and the drive there from Brisbane was not only picturesque but a great adventure. You get to drive through Warwick, which I previously worked, then on through various small towns and right past Stanthorpe. I did stop in at Stanthorpe on the way home. I had missed the Winter fest by a week unfortunately.
There are several places you must see: Tenterfield Saddler, fruit farm for which there are several and of course going for walks down the heritage style street. The buildings here are all from the 1800s and the architecture is amazing. I am no professional photographer but I tried to catch a few of them in the best way I could.
Next to the Post office is the School of Arts. Sooo much Heritage in this little town. Thankfully there council has not allowed anyone to tear down the beautiful buildings here, as so many others have.
Below are pictures and the placques from the Tenterfield Saddlery. You may remember the song by Peter Allen "Tenterfield Saddler". This is where Peter Allen grew up and the saddlery was originally owned by a relative. Amazing little building.
Below: the Tenterfield Tavern where I got to work for a few weeks.
On the way back from Tenterfield to Brisbane... I couldn't resist stopping at Stanthorpe and some of the Granite Belt Stores.
