Warwick

The travel time to Warwick from Southern Brisbane is approximately 2 hours. It is a pretty scenic drive and worth taking the time to visit this sleepy big town. I was invited to work at the Warwick RSL for a few weeks to change their Pastry display, which was limited to 3 cakes on bar trays, to a nice modern cabinet filled with tempter.
Although I am not a pastry chef, I do understand the need for good old fashioned tempters, and made sure that what I produced was able to be duplicated by the chefs on site. (Also not pastry chefs).
Current Population is approximately 12,222 according to census information, Warwick does have a Shopping Center so in my eyes it is a large town.Photos from the Drive there. Such a lovely drive through the range with plenty to see.... and plenty of places to stop for adventure.

This photo just sums up Southern QLD...

So below I have included the photos of the now full display cabinets and the desserts created.

Above from Top: Lemon Sponge Pudding, Gluten Free Apple Crumble, Passionfruit Pavlova.
2nd Row: Berry Cheesecake and Blackforrest Cheesecake.

Above: Cherry Cheesecake and Citrus Cheesecake minis. The Dessert Display Cabinet only had 3 Cakes in it when I arrived and no decorations. I set about creating a more earthy feel by adding fake baby ivy and wooden platters to place cakes on. I worked with the kitchen staff to ensure they added more variety than just cheesecake.

Cold Warrick Morning at 8 am.... was supposed to head back to Brissy but decided to go back to bed and use the late check out. Did not want to drive in this fog.
The Rose, given to me by a local butcher, straight out of his garden. A very kind gesture and so aromatic. Nothing has been tainted here...and the locals are so amazingly friendly.
Below left: Lemon Curd Tart and Right: Mango Cheesecake

My lemonade scones... recipe passed down from my Nanna, who will be 99 this year... go Nan

Above is a Banana Caramel Cheesecake. To the left my Lime Curd Cheesecake, which is one of my earlier creations from around 1990.
The Cheesecake with the Strawberry and mixed diced sultana mix, is my Christmas in July Cheesecake. The final cheesecake is a mixed Berry Cheesecake with an assortment of pastalage flowers decorating it.
